BIOROCK-M
BIOROCK-M
The BIOROCK-M packaged treatment plant is an innovative compact single piece packaged treatment plant designed to produce high quality effluent with low lifetime cost. The plant is supplied complete for simple installation in an excavation with prepared base slab. Central to the BIOROCK-M technology are a combination of two well-proven technologies, namely the Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) followed by the BIOROCK- technology (Tertiary Treatment). Both technologies are fixed film technologies with specific function for achieving the high quality effluent required for re-use of the treated effluent.
The units are a combination of Primary, Secondary & Tertiary Treatment in 1x single plant.
Primary Treatment
The raw effluent is received in Settlement Stage. This stage is for removal and retention of gross solids as sludge and also to provide the attenuation of the hydraulic flow. Screens are not required and the heavier solids settle to form sludge and the light solids float to form scum.
Secondary Treatment:
The settled waste water transfers from the primary settlement stage into the Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC) stage where initial biodegradation of the higher more complex organic material takes place.
Tertiary Treatment:
Buckets mounted on the RBC stage transfer the settled and partially treated waste water onto the third biological stage (BIOROCK® Media) at a near constant rate of flow for the most efficient biological treatment. The BIOROCK-Media has an extremely large surface area to volume ratio and is arranged in the unit to work as alternating aerobic and anoxic zones for the most effective breakdown of simpler organic constituents of the initially degraded waste water from the RBC process. The BIOROCK® Media is sized and arranged to provide a very high quality effluent. Final settlement stage is not required as the fine organic solids are captured and retained in the BIOROCK® Media for complete breakdown.
Effluent Storage and Disinfection:
The treated effluent from the combined BIOROCK-M is drained into a holding tank. The treated effluent can be UV light disinfected and either discharged to a watercourse or recycled for irrigation or other applications such as toilet flushing or cleaning.
